Responsibilities
- Read and create electrical schematics, and interface
control documents using CAD based software;
- Prepare cost estimates for design work;
- Undertake QA/QC of engineering products and design
packages for quality and compliance with code;
- Design and develop instrumentation for airborne
geophysical surveying;
- Implement software components for instrument operation
and data collection;
- Work with the geophysical research and development
department from initial instrument design through
prototype, integration and initial deployment;
- Develop system operational documentation for use by
company field crews;
- Troubleshoot existing electrical components and
systems;
- Perform assigned tasks to a high standard of quality;
- Understand, comply with, and promote all company
safety precautions and policies, including reporting
hazards and incidents encountered during daily
operations;
- Attend and complete training courses and/or company
examinations, as required;
- Maintain a high level of technical and operational
knowledge through direct engagement with colleagues,
supervisors, and personal development;
- Maintain project schedules and design goals; and
- Perform and complete other duties as assigned.
One or More of the Following Experiences is a Plus
- Embedded software development (Yocto);
- Device driver development;
- Distributed/real-time systems (DDS, Robot Operating
System);
- TCP/IP networking;
- PCB design in Altium Designer;
- Demonstrated experience in designing, integrating, and
troubleshooting systems aboard an aircraft including,
the ability to use test equipment needed to determine
that systems are behaving normally; and
- Experience preparing and performing electromagnetic
compatibility and interference source victim testing of
aircraft systems.
Required Qualifications
- Postsecondary degree in Electrical Engineering,
Engineering Physics, Software Engineering, Aerospace
Systems Engineering or a relevant discipline;
- Eligibility for designation as a Professional Engineer
(PEO – Professional Engineers Ontario) is an asset;
- Experience with designing, drawing, and analyzing
analog and digital circuits;
- Experience or proficiency in any of:
- Hardware and analog design: Altium Designer, SPICE
simulation
- FPGA/HDL Development: Verilog, VHDL, Tcl
- Microcontroller development: C, C++
- Data analysis: Python/Numpy, Matlab
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills;
- Ability to communicate in multiple languages is an
asset;
- Excellent report writing skills; and
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
