Electromechanical Drafter/Designer

Location Ottawa office

Sander Geophysics is currently seeking an Electromechanical Drafter/Designer to join the team. The successful candidate will perform CAD design and documentation work (3D, 2D, schematic, assembly, pictorial etc) assigned by the Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineer and Engineering Manager. The tasks will include aircraft modifications, instrumentation design and other projects as they arise.


  • Coordinate with assigned personnel from various departments on relevant aspects of design and drawing activities;
  • Create CAD drawings for engineering projects;
  • Complete project responsibilities within scope and schedule;
  • Create drawings from verbal and written specifications;
  • Maintain all revisions of project drawings;
  • Prepare engineering drawings that detail plans and specifications;
  • Work with engineers to ensure standards are met regarding accuracy, design, drafting and design documentation;
  • Review drawings for completeness and accuracy;
  • Assist with written procedures documentation; and
  • Liaise and support manufacturers as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant degree in electromechanical design, drafting or related discipline;
  • Highly proficient in 3D CAD software;
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks or SolidEdge an asset;
  • Good verbal and written communication skills;
  • Excellent report writing skills;
  • Proficient with LibreOffice and/or Microsoft Office; and
  • Ability to multitask with flexibility in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrate initiative in improving the organization of the company's drawings and related documents; and
  • Ability to maintain project schedules and design goals.
